Famous Mother Sons from India

Mother's Day Gifts

In India, they say, mothers share special bonds with their sons as fathers do with their daughters. In a land where sons are considered the torchbearer of family’s name and perpetuality, there are a few moms who have chosen to look beyond traditions to be the inspiration for their sons and carve them into a true hero. On the occasion of Mother’s Day this year, we want to honor such mother-son duos that share not only tender bonds but also strong individual personalities.

Mother with Little Son

Asha and Anand Bhosle - Youngest son of the famous singer Asha Bhosle, Anand Bhosle is No. 1 fan of her mom's music. Asha ji have faced fair share of tragedies in her life. Early death of her father, a failed marriage, being a single mom to three kids, and then, facing her own elder sister as her biggest competitor - were some of the biggest challenges she faced. And yet, she managed to top it all with sheer determination and loads of talent.

Her unique voice and the limitless talent she has are legendary. Her son Anand looks after her career now and is learning the ropes of business from her mother. In this rare case, it is the son who willingly chose to abandon his own career ambitions to make sure that his mother’s career can reach loftier heights. But he certainly not begrudges it. He knows it is an honour, a rare opportunity to watch geniuses at work.

Jaya and Abhishek Bachchan - Amitabh Bachchan set an example to his posterity as well as millions of other young Indians when he gave the credit of all his success to his mother Teji Bachchan. Abhisek Bachchan has followed in the footsteps of his father to be so open about the special bond he shares with his mother Jaya Bachchan, who is herself a legendary actress and has essayed a few roles in classic Bollywood movies of all times.

Jaya is seen as a pillar of strength in her family – silent, patient, loving, caring and yet, having an indomitable and independent personality. Abhishek has certainly learnt a lot from her mother and he expresses so too.

Son Kissing Her Mother

Kokilaben and Mukesh and Anil Ambani - Kokilaben Ambani, the mother of Mukesh and Anil Ambani, proved her worth when she publicly stepped between the brothers and re-cemented their relationships. Mukesh and Anil have both done well to take the Reliance group to new dizzying heights and now everybody knows where they get their strength from.

Even at this age, Kokilaben has a clear sight, strong willpower, and is quiet capable of taking a stand when she needs to. Kudos to Kokilaben for a commendable step that is exemplary for any mother!

Leila and Vikram Seth – First woman in India to become Chief Justice of a high court and the first woman to join as a judge on the panel of Delhi High Court, Leila Seth had also been the first woman to top London Bar Exams in 1958. With a lot of firsts in her name, Leila has balanced her high-flying career perfectly with a happy life at home.

Her son Vikram chose to stay at home with his parents when he penned his most famous novel ‘A suitable boy’ that has often been described as an authentic picture of India just after Independence. Leila has certainly been able to pass on her observation power and communication skills to her son allowing him to excel in his own way.

Mother Kissing Son

Shabnam and Yuvraj Singh - Though a housewife, Shabnam Singh won accolades from everybody when she came to the forefront to handle Yuvraj's media and personal life when he was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. One of the star cricketers of India, Yuvraj Singh is a left-handed batsman.

Calm and patient, Shabnam never let her trauma of having a young super son struggling with a rare cancer show on her face once. She assured the fans that her son will recover soon and her words have proven prophetic. Shabnam has proved once again that while mothers love to be in the wings while their children take the center stage, they are the true force of their children.

Being a ‘Mama’s boy’ is now considered cool. Do not forget to send Mothers Day Gifts to India on 14th of May this year with a heartfelt message to your mom and let her know how important she is to you. Also, if you can't think of any thing else, Mothers Day Flowers can be a obvious choice.
