About Gandhinagar

Gandhinagar, the Capital of Gujarat, has been named after Father of India - Mahatama Gandhi. Khadi, pottery and handicrafts abound in bazaars of Gandhinagar. Our gift experts have researched extensively, to bring you an awesome range of unusual handicraft items, elaborate diyas and high-quality silk and cotton apparels. These will surprise your friends and family members in the city with their uniqueness and creativity.

With 95% Hindus, Gandhinagar residents are mostly vegetarians. While they may love occasional cuisine experiments, simple and traditional Gujarati thalis still seem to be their first love. Traditional mawa sweets and dry fruit boxes seems to be the perfect complements for them for all major occasions - be it festivals or personal events like their successes and achievements, birthdays and anniversaries.

Yummy delicious egg-less cakes and a bouquet of fresh flowers is probably the best gift combo to brighten up the day of a Gandhinagar resident.

Gandhinagar is the capital of Gujarat. It is planned on the basis of Chandigarh. Gandhinagar has 30 sectors with well laid out roads and abundant parks and trees. The world famous " Akshardham Temple " of Swaminarayan sect is located here. Gandhinagar is 22kms. from Ahmedabad and is connected to it with wide roads.

Raksha Bandhan in Gandhinagar

Festivals at Gandhinagar are full of joy and lovely traditions wrapped in colors, music, and dance. On the day of Raksha Bandhan, many people offer first Rakhi to Lord Krishna. Girls and women of Gandhinagar can be seen offering Rakhi to Krishna at the famous Panchdev Mandir and praying for His divine protection.

The former Chief Minister of Gujarat (current Prime Minister) Narendra Modi used to celebrate the festival of Raksha Bandhan at his official residence in Gandhinagar, and women from all walks of life used to visit him and tie Rakhi on his wrist. According to Modi, the festival marks the importance of 'Women Empowerment' for the betterment of Indian society.

A day before Raksha Bandhan, the excitement is evident in the markets of Gandhinagar. People can be seen buying Puja Samagri and colorful Rakhis in various designs. On the day of the festival, children often wear new clothes for the ceremony. Most elderly at Gandhinagar seem to prefer Sandalwood Rakhis or Auspicious Rakhis while the youth prefers fancy Rakhis or Diamond Rakhis.

Sisters who would like to send Rakhi to Gandhinagar may also add a pack of chocolates, sweets, or dry fruits with their Rakhi hampers for the special touch. We also present specially Handcrafted Rakhi Puja Thalis to impress your Bhaiya and Bhabhi.
