About Bharuch

Situated at the mouth of River Narmada, Bharuch has always been a rich and prosperous city. It has hosted Greeks, Persians, Romans, Arabs and Europeans since ancient times. Over the past decade, many Bharuch residents have moved to distant lands like the USA, the UK, and other European countries too. Naturally, people here have highly developed tastes for foreign chocolates and other gifts from abroad.

Like Surat, Bharuch cuisine is quite spicy. The specialty of the place is the sweet lip-smacking 'Malai Ghari'. To complement it, we bring you an extraordinary range of sweets and desserts that you can order. Bhargava Brahmins still rule the city and Bharuch is the nerve-centre of vegetarianism. Hence, we also offer yummy eggless cakes in all flavours that you can order for Bharuch residents.

For every occasion – ranging from the unique Maghraja Festival during monsoons to Holi, Navratri, Ganesh Chaturthi and Eid ul-fitr – we have a gift for you! We bring you baskets of beautiful flowers and fresh fruits that can win the hearts of your loved ones at Bharuch.

Bharuch is a very ancient town founded by sage Bhrigu. Bharuch is district head quarters. Bharuch is 182 kms. from Ahmedabad. Bharuch was one of the chief ports of Western India in ancient times.

Raksha Bandhan in Bharuch

Bharuch is Bhrigu Tirtha for Hindus and a sacred Jain Tirth too. Heavily industrialized, the city has a thriving culture and is home to various ethnic and religious communities. The Raksha Bandhan celebrated on Shravan Poornima often coincides with the famous Meghraja Festival of Bharuch (which is also celebrated in the month of Shravan). In this festival, the people of Bharuch prepare a 5.5 feet tall idol of Lord Indra from the soil of River Narmada and worship it for 25 days.

On the day of Raksha Bandhan, households at Bharuch come together for a family gathering and reunion. Sisters tie Rakhi on the wrists of their brothers, pray for their good health and safety, give them coconuts as a sign of prosperity and auspiciousness, and feed them sweets. In turn, brothers offer gifts to their sisters and promise to protect them under all circumstances.

Often, married women come back to their parents' house to meet their brother's family on this day and spend a few days with them. Those who can't come for some reason, send Rakhi to Bharuch and pray for their brothers' happiness.

If you want to send a Rakhi Hamper to Bharuch too, we bring you some of the most amazing offers just for you - such as free delivery, a free greeting card, and free handcrafted Tika with each hamper you order.
